Hot Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic has sealed his mark on the London innovation by descending the controversial Designer of the Year exhibit.

The museum’s 2007 plan, released last month, doesn’t admit the event, which has been applied every year since 2003 and which was one of the flagship plans of former director Alice Rawsthorn.

“There’s no Designer of the Year in it is past arrange,” said a Design Museum interpreter. “The arrange is being rethought and improved at the event, and we’ll relaunch later in 2007, however there will be no following expo.”

Sudjic is knew to be regarding relaunching the award as a prize for new designers or for global designers.

The £25,000 award was arrange to wages “the UK designer or design group whose process did the greatest contribution to design” in a presented year. The first award was succeeded by Apple Computer designer Jonathan Ive, during mutual designer Daniel Brown succeeded in 2004.

Controversy followed the prize in 2005, if it was succeeded by “populace area design reformer” Hillary Cottam, who prepared innovative procurement ways for schools and jails however who, by her personal admission, wasn’t a designer. The resulting row is thinking to have contributed to Rawsthorn’s release from the museum in early 2006.

In 2006 the prize attended Jamie Hewlett, the artist behind realistic pop team Gorillaz.

Highlights of the museum’s program for 2007 admit exhibits dedicated to designer Zaha Hadid, mode designer Matthew Williamson and graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook.
