
Designer Yu-Ying Wu in Taipei, Taiwan to realize the chair was inspired by the Breathing pattern of cells that form the section of the trunk of a tree. This structure, applied to a particular type of foam rubber, has enabled it to achieve Breathing, a chair by design accents.
At first glance it is a simple cube Breathing rubbery but, once seated, takes the form of an armchair, with the edges of the cube become armrests. As the structure is perforated surface and more compact towards the base, rubber welcomes your weight yet supports it. Winner of the Red Dot Award 2009, this prototype is currently under development in anticipation of market launch.
