Planch the name is a neologism that derives from the union of Bench (bench) and Planter (planter). Indeed Planch is exactly the prototype of an element of street furniture which is both bench and vase.
Made from waste materials from construction sites and road works, Planch consists of sheets of polystyrene combined, filled in places which are expected to sit empty and where the plants are housed. All held together by two external sheets of plywood and the typical orange netting from work in progress.
The project bears the signature of the study of landscape and urban design + Mergold Austin, in collaboration with students of the Faculty of Architecture University of Hong Kong, and was presented to Hong Kong / Shenzhen Biennale 2009/10.
