The Corona Globe by Japanese Design Studio Nendo

The Japanese study Nendo has accustomed us to project over the top, where the element of surprise trumps rationality, though never on functionality. The last project presented is a series of luminous globes, globe-shaped lamps with a peculiarity.

Mounted by two pins that make them rotate on an axis within wheels powder coated steel, the Globe crown are painted individually, in only two colors: ocean masses are white, while the continents are all indistinguishably blacks.

This choice is doing much to discuss, wherever the lamps are presented: the fault is not so much the idea of unifying all states, to suggest that the Earth is one place where we all live, as outline in the light some continents like Africa
